The thick fleshy leaves are edged with fierce teeth and the flower spike can grow to over 6m tall Although given the name Century Plant because it was thought to flower once in a hundred years, the rosettes actually take around 8-15 years to mature to flowering size, after which they die, to be replaced by suckers. Order: Asparagales, Family: Asparagaceae
