Farfugium japonicum var. giganteum (syns. Ligularia tussilaginea 'Gigantea', Farfugium reniforme), a natural variety of a hardy evergreen Japanese perennial that while often grown as a foliage plant for its large, deep green leaves, produces nonetheless attractive heads of bright yellow daisy-like flowers in late autumn. Giganteum is an especially strong growing plant with large leathery leaves that can be up to 30cm across, their shape and size giving rise to the common name of tractor seats.
