The autumn foliage of the Silky Dogwood (Cornus amomum), a deciduous shrub native to eastern North America. It has small yellow-cream flowers in spring, blue-grey fruit, colourful autumn foliage and red-barked stems that are attractive in winter. The general effect is very like that of Cornus alba, the fruit colour being the most obvious difference: usually blue-grey to purple, though some plants have white fruit similar to that of Cornus alba. Order: Cornales, Family: Cornaceae
