Kankakee Mallow (Iliamna remota [syns. Iliamna rivularis var. rivularis, Sphaeralcea remota]), a summer-flowering perennial or subshrub that can grow to 18m tall It has 5-20cm long, maple-like leaves with 3-7 main lobes. The pinkish mauve flowers are 25-35mm wide. Unlike most mallows, this is a woodland plant that flowers best in part-shade. It was once thought to occur naturally only in Illinois, but may be found across the northern United States. Order: Malvales, Family: Malvaceae
