The juvenile foliage of Pittosporum patulum, an evergreen shrub or small tree up to 6m tall, found in subalpine areas of the South Island of New Zealand, often in Southern. Beech (Nothofagus) forest. The juvenile foliage is bronze-green, narrow and lobed while the adult leaves are a brighter green, broader and smoother edged, usually just with shallow teeth. Fragrant red flowers appear at the stem tips in spring. This species is endangered in the wild. Order: Apiales, Family: Pittosporaceae
