Toothed. Lancewood or Fierce. Lancewood (Pseudopanax ferox) with fruit. The foliage of this small tree native to New Zealand passes through four stages before developing it 15cm long, smooth-edged, oblong adult leaves. The juvenile leaves are usually very thick and narrow, almost woody, and are edged with very coarse, sharp teeth. Sprays of small green flowers are followed by olive-like fruits. This example is at the stage just before the fully adult foliage develops and this is probably its first crop of fruit. pseudopanax-2147htm'>Pseudopanax. Order: Apiales, Family: Araliaceae
