Leafless Clematis (Clematis afoliata), a scrambling semi-climbing spring-flowering shrub native to Marlborough and Canterbury in the east of New Zealand's South Island. Its green stems perform most of the functions of foliage, though it does occasionally carry vestigial leaves. The small, clustered, yellow-green flowers are often sweetly scented.
