Magnolia 'Early. Rose' (<i>Magnolia campbellii x Magnolia liliiflora</i>), a hybrid by New Zealand breeder. Os. Blumhardt. It dates from the 1970s and while its flowers are very like those of M campbellii, it has the advantage of blooming young, at around 3 years from seed, as opposed to the up to 20 year wait with M campbellii.
