Naked Oats or Hull-less Oats (Avena nuda), a Chinese grass that differs from the commonly grown Eurasian species, Avena sativa, in that its seed are held less tightly in their hulls and the plants are considerably more robust. It is popular in China and is sometimes cultivated for horse oats elsewhere. While it is larger and easier to process, it takes longer to mature and not as well adapted to mechanical harvesting. Order: Poales, Family: Poaceae
