Autumn foliage of the Montpellier Maple (Acer monspessulanum), a 12m tall deciduous tree found from southeast Europe to western Asia, with small 3-lobed leaves. It is allied to the Field Maple (Acer campestre) but quite easily distinguished by its shallower, rounded leaf lobes. The autumn foliage often tends to be just a dull yellow, but it good years the tree can develop brilliant gold, orange and red tones. The small red samara (sycamores) are attractive.
