Beehives on a high country farm in Mid-Canterbury, New Zealand. The hives are moved onto the farm by a local apiarist to take advantage of the flowering of certain pasture plants, such as clover, and the bloom of plants like manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) in patches of bushland on the farm. Note how the lids of the hives have been weighted down with large rocks, an indication of the potential force of the wind in this area. Even so, some of the lids have been blown off.
