Veronica (syn. Hebe) 'Karo Golden Esk', a golden-yellow-foliaged whipcord hebe that is a natural hybrid between Veronica odora and Veronica armstrongii. It was first found near the Esk River, Canterbury, New Zealand in 1988. The summer foliage, shown here is light green, the golden colour intensifying in winter. It has small heads of white flowers. Despite seemingly being a Maori name, karo is actually an acronym of "known and recorded origin". Order: Lamiales, Family: Plantaginaceae
