Acaena microphylla, a spreading groundcover member of the rose family that is found through the South Island of New Zealand from lowland to subalpine areas. Its foliage ranges from pale blue-green to strongly purple-bronze-tinted. It is very similar to Acaena inermis, with near-identical foliage, but its seedheads are on much taller stems and are spiny.
