They don't call it Foggy for nothing. This photograph, taken at about the start of the upper scree slopes, shows how limited the visibility can be, and this isn't too bad. Foggy Peak, Porters Pass, New Zealand is renowned for its wide range of easily accessible alpine plants. The mountain is very benign in sunny conditions but it can be disorientating and dangerous to be caught at the top in fog.
