The male flowers of Sweet Corn, Maize or Corn (Zea mays), a robust annual grass from Central America grown for its edible seed heads (cobs). There are many cultivars. The anthers shown here hang from very thin and flexible filaments that allow them to move freely in the breeze, shedding pollen onto the female flowers below as they swing.
