The late winter foliage of Chilean. Wineberry or Maqui (Aristotelia chilensis), an evergreen, 3-9m tall, spring-flowering tree native to the temperate rainforest of Chile and neighbouring parts of Argentina. The heads of small white flowers open in spring and are followed on female trees by dark purplish red to black berries that are edible and commercially harvested from the wild.
