The developing flower spike of Beschorneria yuccoides 'Variegata', a boldly variegated cultivar of a semi-succulent yucca-like perennial from Mexico. It is smaller than the typically blue-green foliage form and does not flower as readily. The long red-stemmed flowerheads open from spring and have pinkish-red bracts that partially conceal tubular, green flowers. The variegated form also has variegated bracts, as seen here. beschorneria-2412htm'>Beschorneria.
