Golden Angels'. Trumpet (<i>Brugmansia aurea</i>), an evergreen, long-flowering shrub native to Ecuador. Despite the common and scientific names, the flowers are more of a deep primrose yellow than gold. In the wild it can grow to 9m tall, but 3m is more common in cultivation. Because it occurs naturally it reasonably high altitudes, it is more cold-resistant than many of the other very large-flowered brugmansias. As with many species in this genus and Datura, all parts of the plant have alkaloids that have a narcotic effect, though they can also be very toxic. brugmansia-2283htm'>Brugmansia.
