The foliage of Ginger, Root Ginger or Stem Ginger (Zingiber officinale), a perennial native to tropical Asia. Its yellow-green and purple flowers are attractive, but the plant is mainly grown for its swollen rhizomes, which are spicily aromatic and pungent.
