Two New Zealand plants that are often confused with each other. On the left is Olearia paniculata and to the right is Pittosporum tenuifolium. Both have oval, wavy edged leaves and a dense bushy habit, though the Pittosporum is ultimately much taller. Despite the superficial similarity, they are quite different plants. The olearia is a daisy, which can be seen in its fluffy seedheads. It also has pale indumentum on the foliage and at times its leaves are a distinctive pale green.
