Monkshood, Wolf's Bane or Friar's Cap (Aconitum napellus), a summer- to autumn-flowering perennial that occurs naturally over much of the northern temperate region. Its stems can grow to over 1m tall, but often bend over under the weight of flowers once they begin to bloom. Extracts are used in some herbal medicine, but the plant is quite toxic, potentially fatally. Order: Ranunculales, Family: Ranunculaceae
