The fruiting head of the Golden-flowered Century Plant (Agave chrysantha), a rosette-forming succulent native to Arizona. The grey-green, spine-edged leaves are up to 75cm long and the flower stems can grow to 7m tall. The yellow flowers open from late summer and are followed by these seed capsules that may persist into early winter. Order: Asparagales, Family: Asparagaceae
