Zingiber zerumbet 'Darcyi', a variegated foliage cultivar of Bitter Ginger, Shampoo Ginger or Pinecone Ginger, a 12m tall herbaceous perennial; native to tropical and subtropical Asia as far south as northern Australia. Its aromatic roots are used in cooking and extracts form the cone-like structures from which the flower emerge are used in shampoos and massage oils. Order: Zingiberales, Family: Zingiberaceae
