The Tree of Heaven (<i>Ailanthus altissima</i>) is a deciduous tree, up to 30m tall, native to western China. It is very quick-growing when young and as can be seen here, it often presents a problem in cultivation by producing vigorous suckers. Here, a mature tree that has been cut down is reshooting strongly from the base. These suckers can appear several metres from the main trunk. ailanthus-2270htm'>Ailanthus. <a href='simaroubaceae-plant-family-photoshtml'>Simaroubaceae</a>.
