It produces large sprays of tiny flowers that develop into edible date-like black fruits. The leaves are similar to those of the more common. Washingtonia palms but their petioles are smooth, while those of Washingtonia are armed with fierce recurved teeth. Order: Arecales, Family: Arecaceae
