The fruit of the American. Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon), a low, spreading evergreen shrub found in eastern North America and northern Asia. It grows to around 1m tall, has leaves to 2cm long, small pale mauve flowers in spring, and its bright red fruits ripen in autumn.
