Lesser Calamint (<i>Calamintha nepeta</i>), a short-lived perennial grown for its aromatic foliage and 80cm tall spikes of mauve flowers that develop in summer. It is also a culinary herb and used especially in Italian cuisine, where it is known as mentuccia or nipitella. The plant occurs naturally from southern Europe to Britain.
