The glossy young emergent foliage of the Giant Himalayan Lily (Cardiocrinum giganteum). The leaves loose much of the sheen as they age. This early summer-flowering Himalayan bulb grows very quickly to over 3 m high after disappearing completely over winter. The flowers are quite strongly scented, though because they are so high up the fragrance is not always noticeable. Order: Liliales, Family: Liliaceae
