Alniphyllum fortunei, a large deciduous shrub or small tree to 10m tall, native to western China. The leaves, yellow-gold-tinted and downy when young, are up to 15cm long, as are its heads of small, summer-borne, white flowers. The flowers are short-lived and as can be seen here, they begin to brown almost as soon as they open. alniphyllum-2255htm'>Alniphyllum. Styracaceae.
