Toothache Plant (<i>Acmella oleracea</i> [syns. <i>Spilanthes oleracea</i>, <i>Spilanthes acmella</i>]), a tender, summer-flowering perennial native to Brazil. A member of the daisy family (<i>Asteraceae</i>), its flowerheads have no ray florets and are interestingly shaped. The leaves have both culinary and medicinal uses, with a pungent flavour and mild analgesic or anaesthetic effects, hence the name Toothache Plant. Order: Asterales, Family: Asteraceae
