The flowerheads of Soap. Aloe (Aloe maculata [syn. Aloe saponaria]), a low, suckering succulent that forms a clump of rosettes of broad, mottled leaves up to 30cm long edged with sharp green to brown teeth. Its branched inflorescence is up to 1m tall and opens in late summer to early autumn. This species occurs naturally in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Order: Asparagales, Family: Asphodelaceae
