The foliage at the base of the flower stem of Agave mitis var. mitis (syn. Agave celsii var. celsii), an evergreen, rosette-forming, perennial succulent native to central Mexico. It green to blue-green leaves are up to 70cm long and have only very small teeth. The flower stems are 1-1.5m tall and the flowers open from late spring. The flower vary in colour from maroon to pale yellow-green. Order: Asparagales, Family: Asparagaceae
