Camellia 'Hishi Karaito' (syns 'Emily Brown', 'Lacy Pink', 'Thread of Diamond'), a Camellia japonica cultivar that is reputed to have a long history but which can only be traced with certainty to a 1934 find in a Japanese nursery. It has a compact but rather upright habit and blooms over a long season, starting quite early. The petaloid centre is variable, depending on the climate, light levels and time of flowering. Order: Ericales, Family: Theaceae
