Chain Fern or European Chain Fern (Woodwardia radicans), a strong-growing, tough-stemmed evergreen fern that spread from stout rhizomes. It occurs in southwestern Europe and the nearby Atlantic islands. The chain-like arrangement of the sporangia (unusually, often more visible on the upper surfaces than the undersides) is very distinctive. Mature clumps can mound to 18m tall with fronds up to 2m long. Order: Polypodiales, Family: Blechnaceae
